What an invoice in Sweden must include

  • Invoice number in an unbroken series (the date alone is not allowed) and the invoice date
  • Your business name and address; for companies, the registration number and the town of the registered office
  • Customer’s full name and address
  • Delivery date, or the delivery month if the exact date is not known
  • Specification of the goods or services, with quantity and unit
  • Price excluding VAT, VAT rate and VAT amount in SEK for each rate, and the total including VAT
  • Payment terms and due date, and your bankgiro or plusgiro number
  • Your VAT number: SE + organisation or personal identity number + 01, without hyphens
  • For services: a statement that you are approved for F-tax (godkänd för F-skatt)

Rules worth knowing

  • You do not have to register for VAT while sales stay at or below SEK 120,000 a calendar year (since 1 January 2025). VAT starts with the sale that takes you over the limit.
  • Invoices to consumers must state that late-payment interest will be charged.
  • There is no general B2B e-invoicing mandate in Sweden. E-invoices are required only when selling to public bodies.
  • Selling services to a VAT-registered business in another EU country? Pick the reverse-charge setup: it charges 0% and prints the required wording. Show your client’s VAT number as well as your own.
