Rules worth knowing
- VAT stays at 7.5% under the Nigeria Tax Act 2025, in force from 1 January 2026; the tax authority is now the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS).
- Companies paying you for services usually deduct withholding tax (commonly 5% or 10%) and give you a credit note — show it on the invoice so the net payable is clear.
- Small businesses below the WHT Regulations 2024 threshold with a valid TIN are not required to deduct WHT.
