What an invoice in Czech Republic must include
- Invoice number, issue date and date of the taxable supply
- Name, address and DIČ of the supplier, and IČO for businesses
- Name, address and DIČ of the customer if they have one
- Scope and subject of the supply
- Unit price, tax base, VAT rate and VAT amount, with the VAT in Czech koruna
Rules worth knowing
- You are exempt from VAT while domestic turnover in a calendar year is at most CZK 2,000,000. You become a VAT payer once you pass CZK 2,000,000, and at once if you pass CZK 2,536,500.
- A VAT payer should issue the tax document within 15 days of the supply. When invoicing in a foreign currency, the VAT amount must still be stated in Czech koruna.
- A sender who is not a VAT payer has no DIČ for VAT purposes and must not show VAT on the invoice.
- We found no domestic B2B e-invoicing mandate in force in the Czech Republic. A PDF is accepted if the customer agrees and its origin and content can be shown to be unchanged.
- Selling services to a VAT-registered business in another EU country? Pick the reverse-charge setup: it charges 0% and prints the required wording. Show your client’s VAT number as well as your own.
