Bangladesh BDT, A4 Rules checked October 2026

What an invoice in Bangladesh must include

  • Your name, address and Business Identification Number (BIN)
  • Buyer’s name, address and BIN (needed for the buyer to claim input credit)
  • Serial number and date of issue
  • Description, quantity and value of the supply, excluding VAT
  • VAT rate and amount

Rules worth knowing

  • A VAT-registered business in Bangladesh must issue its sales invoice in the NBR’s prescribed form, Mushak 6.3, with the BIN of both seller and buyer. A plain PDF from this tool is not a Mushak 6.3, and the buyer may not be able to claim input credit on it. Use this tool for foreign clients, quotes and proformas, and ask your VAT office whether a computer-generated copy in the Mushak 6.3 layout is accepted.
  • The standard VAT rate is 15%. Reduced rates of 1.5% to 10% apply to listed goods and services under the Second Schedule.
  • Registration is reported as required once turnover passes Tk 5 million. Businesses with turnover of Tk 3–5 million are reported to pay turnover tax and cannot issue a Mushak 6.3 or give input credit. The turnover tax rate (4% or a fixed sum) and the exact limits were changing in the 2026–27 budget, so check the current NBR rules.
  • Many government bodies, banks, limited companies and large firms deduct VAT at source when they pay you, and issue a Mushak 6.6 certificate. Ask your client whether this applies.
