What an invoice in Israel must include
- The words “Tax Invoice” (for a licensed dealer)
- Your name, address and dealer or company number
- Your client’s name and address (and number, for business clients)
- Sequential invoice number and date
- Description, quantity, price, VAT rate and VAT amount in shekels
- The allocation number from the Tax Authority, for business invoices above the current threshold
Rules worth knowing
- Tax invoices to Israeli clients must come from software approved by the Israel Tax Authority and, above the threshold, carry an allocation number obtained online. A PDF made here does not do that. Use this tool for foreign clients, quotes and proformas.
- The allocation-number threshold for business invoices (before VAT) fell to NIS 10,000 on 1 January 2026 and to NIS 5,000 on 1 June 2026. Without a number, your client cannot deduct the VAT.
- VAT is 18% since 1 January 2025. Exports and services to non-residents are generally zero-rated.
- An exempt dealer (osek patur) charges no VAT; the turnover ceiling is about NIS 120,000 a year and is updated each year.
